Squad swimmers

When am I ready to join a squad?
  • Once a school aged swimmer is ready their swim teacher will suggest they join a pre - squad / advanced swimmer group to further improve their skills, endurance, survival and rescue skills within a group

  • Once a pre - squad swimmer is ready to progress further, their coach will suggest they move into a squad group to continue to develop their skills

What happens in pre - squad?
  • we emphasise efficient technique in all strokes. If you can swim using less energy, you can swim faster in your sport, and much more importantly, further in a survival situation.

  • in particular we focus on cementing correct breaststroke and butterfly technique

  • we develop your starts and finishes eg. dives, tumble-turns and finishes

  • we continue to develop survival and rescue skills

  • distance swum is slowly extended provided correct technique is performed.
